Neal Burke Hemmert passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday, January 1, 2023. Neal was born February 23, 1945 in Glasgow, Montana to Lyman and Alta Burke Hemmert.
Neal grew up in Glasgow, Montana and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1963. He served honorably in the United States Navy for 4 years serving 3 tours in Vietnam and 1 tour in Korea. He received 3 Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with Device, Navy Unit Commendation ribbon, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Korea.
After his service Neal worked as a civil employee as a journeyman electrician at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 25 years.
Neal lived his adult life in El Sobrante, California and moved to Brigham City, Utah when he retired.
He enjoyed deep sea fishing off the coast of California, fly fishing in Utah and Montana with his brother Mike and watching sports and westerns on tv. John Wayne movies were his favorites.
After his retirement, Neal enjoyed travelling to spend time with his Naval and civil service buddies.
Survived by siblings: Michael L (Linda) Hemmert, Ruth A Gurr, Deneice (Jim) Stacy, Sonia Hemmert, Blane (Terri) Hemmert.
Preceded in death by his parents Lyman and Alta Hemmert, sister Alonna Cook and brother Alma Hemmert.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, January 06, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Logan Cemetery, 1000 N 1200 E, Logan, Utah.
Services entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Brigham City, Utah.
