PRESTON, Idaho — A missing Utah man was found dead Sunday afternoon in the mountainous Willow Flat area east of Preston, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders located the man’s body following a multi-agency search that began Saturday. Family members initially reported the man missing after discovering his vehicle parked in the Willow Flat area, a popular campground located about 10 miles east of Preston.
Franklin County sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue personnel initiated the search on Saturday. Search dogs and emergency responders from Cache County joined the effort.
Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi said search and rescue teams spent 12 hours searching the area. Crews discovered the body late Sunday afternoon.
Authorities have turned the body over to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office for further investigation. Officials stated that no foul play is suspected in the man’s death.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
