February 26, 1960 – November 6, 2022 (age 62)
Melanie Ann Black-Callahan passed away on November 6, 2022, in Ogden Utah. She was 62.
Melanie was born February 26, 1960, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had two younger brothers Barton and Brandon.
As children, Melanie and her brothers lived with their parents George and Glenna Black on Wilson Avenue. They lived in the home that had previously been Glenna’s family home. Despite what was assumed by neighbors and others not very familiar with the situation, they were quite happy.
The family moved to West Jordan, Utah, while Melanie was in Jr. High. Melanie went on to attend Bingham High School and really didn’t find it very easy to find the niche she was looking for, so she dropped out to attend a cosmetology school.
She found that the cosmetology school really wasn’t her cup of tea either and quit school altogether. Later, during what would be her Senior year of High School, she decided to give school another try and joined her younger brother Barton in Blanding, Utah where she completed all the necessary credits to graduate with her class in 1978 at San Juan High School.
After High School Melanie moved back to Salt Lake City and tried her hand at a few different careers. She worked at First Security Bank, she also worked at a Telephone operating service for several years. She worked as a coder for a coding service (medical insurance related).
Melanie married Robert Callahan in 1995 in Salt Lake City. They made their home in the Rose Park area on Mission Avenue.
In 2010, Melanie retired and in 2013 she moved to Brigham City where she lived until her passing.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents. She did not have any children but during her lifetime she had several dogs that she cherished dearly.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at Myers Mortuary.
