BOX ELDER COUNTY — A 39-year-old Riverdale man is in custody after allegedly causing two separate hit-and-run accidents and threatening a victim with a knife Saturday morning.
The Brigham City Police Department reported that the series of events began around 11 a.m. at 161 S. Main Street. A white van reportedly struck a vehicle several times before fleeing the area. Officials stated the first victim was the sole occupant of the car and sustained no injuries, though the vehicle suffered minor damage.
A short time later, a second collision involving the same white van occurred at 825 W. 1150 S.. According to investigators, a victim was slowing down to turn into a Walmart parking lot when the van struck their vehicle from behind. When the startled driver hit their brakes, the van struck the vehicle a second time.
The second vehicle was occupied by four people, including two juveniles. While no injuries were reported, a confrontation ensued when a male passenger from the victim’s vehicle approached the driver of the van.
Police say the driver of the white van attempted to pull out a pocketknife. The passenger observed the weapon, pulled the driver out of the van, and detained him until officers arrived. The passenger successfully prevented any injuries during the struggle.
The driver, whose name has not yet been released, faces several charges:
Brigham City detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
