May 21, 1934 – June 10, 2023 (age 89)
Marilyn Helen Hewlett Olsen, 89 died June 10, 2023. She was born to Clarence Curtis (Jim) Hewlett and Helen Louise Wrigley Hewlett on May 21st 1934.
Marilyn, her older brother Tony and parents lived in multiple places throughout her childhood, Park City, Wendover, Corinne, and other small towns through out Utah and finally settling in Brigham City, Utah.
She married Floyd James “Mole” Olsen on August 15, 1952 at the Migratory Bird Refuge which her parents managed. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Logan, Utah. Marilyn was a force to be reckoned with (in a good way) and Mole calm and level. They were the perfect pair. They enjoyed camping with a group of friends from the Telephone Pioneers and also camping with us kids growing up and then the grandkids.
Marilyn lost Mole unexpectedly in February 1992. She missed him so much. After losing Mole she enjoyed trips with dear friends on a Alaskan Cruise, trips to Island Park, Jackson Hole and other locations. Her dear friend Faye Loosle has been her constant support over the years. She continued to maintain an immaculate home and yard for the next thirty years with very few things out of place.
She was a “lunch lady” at Adams Elementary for years and also worked at Rudy’s Green House and Herff Jones. She made friends everywhere she went and truly had the gift of gab. She loved her backyard canal, her ducks and morning coffee. She was the master of telling us colorful stories of growing up and her life adventures. We heard them a lot but knew we would miss hearing them one day.
Marilyn is survived by her children Jim Olsen, Ken Olsen (Julie), Christine Allison (Mark) and Michael Olsen. Her grandchildren, Jared Olsen (Lisa), Matthew Olsen (Stormie), Taylor Allison and Hayden Allison. Great grandchildren, Kyra Gore, Fisher Olsen and Scottlyn Olsen.
The family would like to thank CNS Nursing Care Services for the comfort and care of Marilyn.
In lieu of flowers do what Marilyn would do, talk to a stranger in the grocery line like you have known them forever.
Graveside services will be held Friday June 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Brigham City Cemetery with Allen-Hall Mortuary.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at Allen Mortuaries.
