LOGAN — A 28-year-old man was been arrested for allegedly unlawfully entering a Wellsville home and refusing to leave, according to law enforcement. Ryan James Cooley was booked April 30 into the Cache County Jail.

According to an arrest affidavit, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Wellsville home on report of a man entering the residence and remaining after being told to leave. When law enforcement arrived in the area, Cooley was standing outside the home.

Cooley reportedly told deputies, he entered the home and when the alleged victims asked him to leave he refused to do so. He claimed to have been there to confront one of the occupants about alcohol abuse.

Deputies noted in the probable cause statement, Cooley had been in relationships previously with the two woman. His presence allegedly caused considerable emotional distress. No damage or injuries were reported.

According to court records, Cooley was arraigned May 2 in Logan’s 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony; and two counts of stalking, a third-degree felony.

Judge Spencer Walsh set Cooley’s bail at $5,000. He also prohibited him from having any contact with the alleged victims, and appear again in court May 19.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
