LOGAN — A 69-year-old Logan man accused of groping several girls at a grocery store made his first appearance in court Tuesday to face charges.

Richard L. Taylor was arraigned in 1st District Court on seven counts of sexual battery, all class A misdemeanors.

State attorney Barbara Lachmar said police arrested Taylor after three girls said he groped them while they were working at a local grocery store. He reportedly would brush up against the girls and touch their privates or breasts. The allegations reportedly took place several times last December.

During Tuesday’s court appearance, defense attorney David Perry told Judge Brian Cannell, prosecutors had offered a plea deal but Taylor wanted some more time to consider it. The details of the deal were not disclosed.

Judge Cannell ordered Taylor to appear again in court March 8.
