BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Firefighters extinguished a residential garage fire shortly after 5 p.m. following multiple 911 reports of explosions in Tremonton, emergency officials said.
Crews with the Tremonton Fire Department responded to the scene alongside automatic aid from the Garland Fire Department. Upon arrival, emergency personnel encountered heavy smoke and flames pouring from the garage.
Firefighters declared a working fire and initiated an aggressive attack to suppress the blaze. Their rapid response brought the fire under control before it could extend to the nearby primary residence or an adjacent recreational vehicle parked on the property. No injuries were reported among residents or first responders.
A preliminary investigation determined the fire was likely triggered by a malfunctioning refrigerator kept inside the garage. Fire officials noted the incident serves as a critical reminder that household appliances can fail unexpectedly, particularly in secondary spaces like garages.
