LOGAN — Major traffic relief is coming to Logan earlier than expected. Starting this weekend, all four lanes of U.S. Highway 89 (Main Street) will permanently reopen as the Logan River Trail Undercrossing Project advances weeks ahead of schedule.
Crews have successfully installed the pre-cast pedestrian culvert at 600 South. Once complete, the Utah Department of Transportation project will safely connect trails near the Logan River Golf Course to those heading toward Logan Canyon, allowing pedestrians to bypass Main Street traffic entirely.
While prolonged lane reductions are over, officials warn motorists of one upcoming single-night full closure. Main Street will close completely between 500 South and 640 South for final paving.
The overnight closure is tentatively scheduled for:
- 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 through 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 7
During the closure, drivers are encouraged to detour using 1000 West, 100 West, or 100 East.
