LOGAN – For five years the Cache Valley Media Group has sponsored Logan’s Cinco de Mayo celebration on the Saturday closest to May 5. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 3, from 12 noon until 8 p.m. at the Cache County Fairgrounds.
Groups of all sizes will be performing at this years Cinco de Mayo celebration on Saturday afternoon.
Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day. However, it is an important Mexican holiday commemorating the Battle of Puebla in 1862, a victory of the Mexican army over the French occupation forces of Napoleon III. The day serves as a tribute to the perseverance of Mexican citizens and their spirit as a people.
The holiday has gained popularity in the United States and Cache Valley over the years as a chance for people to see and celebrate the Mexican lifestyle and culture.
“We’re excited to invite everyone to this year’s Cinco de Mayo celebration, organized by JUAN 97.3 FM and Cache Valley Media Group,” said Carolina Calbimonte, a marketing consultant and primary organizer of the celebration. “This event is all about bringing our community together to honor and celebrate the richness of Mexican heritage and culture in Cache Valley.”
The program will begin by showing respect and gratitude to this country with a performance of the U.S. National Anthem by Mia Johnson, followed by Tracy Anderson performing the Mexican National Anthem.
“We will show how the Mexican community and the whole Spanish community celebrates Cinco de Mayo,” she said. “People will see a day of celebration they won’t soon forget.”
Leaders from Logan City, Cache County, the fire department and police department will be on stage to open the event.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our sponsors, vendors, and the Cache Valley community for their continued support and warm welcome,” she said. “I’m truly thankful for their support and for giving us the space and resources to make this celebration possible each year.”
Local Mexican community leaders will be present, including Ramón Salazar, Tracy Anderson La Mexicana, as well as JUAN FM on-air personalities Calbimonte and Claudia La Chilena.

There will be some traditional groups perform at Cinco de Mayo at the fairgrounds Saturday.
“The program will be filled with cultural richness, including a performance by Danza y Color, a Mexican dance company from Salt Lake City, and live music by Mariachi Dinastía, creating a true fiesta atmosphere,” Calbimonte said. “We’ll also feature a quebradita contest, piñatas for kids (thanks to Conexión Latina Cache Valley), and live performances by Yasir Ramírez y Su Legado and Género Calentano, a talented local Mexican group.”
Some of the valley’s best vendors and food trucks offering authentic Mexican cuisine and a other delicious options complete the experience.
