According to court records, Poe Chit appeared Monday in Logan’s 1st District Court. She was previously charged with child abuse, a first-degree felony. The charge carries a possible sentence of up to life in prison.

According to a probable cause statement, the Logan City Police Department was called investigate a report of child abuse on Oct. 24, 2025. The investigation identified the victim as a 9-year-old child.

Court documents state that a witness observed Chit place the child in a headlock and begin punching the victim. The witness told police the child attempted to get away, but Chit continued to punch them.

A second witness reported seeing Chit grab the victim around the neck. This witness allegedly observed Chit repeatedly slapping and punching the child as the victim tried to escape.

During an interview with the victim, police noted the child had visible injuries on their face. The affidavit states these injuries were consistent with the reports provided by the witnesses.
