LOGAN – Officials of the Logan Parks & Recreation Department are inviting local pickleball players to participate in tournament play from April 20 to 24.

The week-long Spring Paddle Battle will be held daily from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Bridger Park.

The city will have pickleball play in various divisions throughout that week, according to Julie Cook, a spokesperson for Logan Parks & Recreation.

For advanced players, the city will host 3.5 and 4.5+ Men’s Open Doubles competition on Monday, April 20.

On Tuesday, the tournament will hold 3.5 and 4.5+ Women’s Doubles competition.

For teams of men and women, Wednesday evening will feature competition in the 3.0 Open Doubles and 3.5 Mixed Doubles divisions.

On Thursday, the city will host competition in the 4.0 Men’s Doubles and 4.0 Women’s Doubles divisions.

Finally, the tournament will conclude on Friday evening with play in the 4.0 and 4.5+ Mixed Doubles divisions.

City officials explain that the 3.0 divisions in pickleball are for beginners, who can get a shot over the next, sustain short rallies and understand the rules of the game.

The 3.5 divisions are for intermediate players who understand the court positions and can keep up with similarly skilled opponents in a longer rally.

Play in the 4.0 to 4.5+ divisions is reserved for pickleball veterans who have a strong grasp of the game, see the whole court, can anticipate play and make smart decisions to gain advantages.

The cost of participation in the Spring Paddle Battle is $20 per person.

Registration is now open through April 21 and can be accomplished by going online to www.loganutah.activitiesreg.com

Bridger Park is located at 1181 North, 400 West in Logan.
