LOGAN – City officials in Logan will hold a “Contractor Open House” regarding the 600 South Underpass Project on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
That gathering, being hosted on behalf of the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and associated project partners, will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Logan City Hall.
The open house is intended to give business and property owners an opportunity to ask questions related to the construction schedule and traffic control management on Main Street in Logan.
The project, being jointly undertaken by UDOT and Logan City officials, will install a pedestrian underpass trail culvert at 600 South adjacent to the US-89 Bridge on Main Street.
That effort is expected to begin as early as Sept. 1 and continue into June of 2026, according to a UDOT construction notice. Access to 600 South will remain closed at Main Street throughout the duration of the project.
UDOT officials expect most of the project work to be accomplished during daylight hours Monday through Friday, with some nighttime and weekend work as well.
Work crews will take a seasonal break from December 2025 to March 0ff 2026, although schedules are subject to change due to weather and available materials.
Project impacts during the 2025 phase of the underpass project are anticipated to include occasional shoulder, pedestrian sidewalk and outside lane closures.
During the 2026 phase of the project, construction impacts are expected to include variable lane closures and traffic may often be reduced to one lane in each direction.
UDOT officials warn that motorists should expect delays from 5 to 15 minutes due to increased traffic congestion in the construction area.
State officials encourage motorist to use 1000 West and 200 North as alternate routes during peak traffic hours.
Access to intersections between 500 South and 700 South will remain open, but dedicated turn lanes may be restricted.
Project managers also advise that several nighttime road closures between 500 South and 700 South will be required to transport heavy equipment, materials and large structures.
The exact times of those closures will be announced through the project website, e-mail updates, social media and text messages.
