LOGAN – If you’ve really hate all the traffic congestion caused by the ongoing sewer repair/replacement project along 200 North west of Main Street, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

In May, the next phase of the project will begin to replace or repair the sewer main on 400 North from Main Street to 700 East, according to the project’s website.

The project’s information coordinators at Sunrise Engineering said the renewal effort was necessary because the sewer infrastructure along 200 North and 400 North had significantly exceeded its service life and improvements were essential to maintain a reliable system for properties along those routes.

Eastbound traffic on 200 North has been blocked since early March, but that phase of the sewer project is expected to be completed by May 9.

When crews from Whitaker Construction move to 400 North, which is expected in the second or third week of May, the repair effort will close the eastbound right and center turn lanes. Two-way traffic on 400 North will still be open, but project managers acknowledge that there will be intermittent restricted access to some local businesses and parking on the road’s shoulders will also be restricted.

The repair effort on 400 North east of Main Street is expected to continue until September.

“Businesses and residents in the area should anticipate increased noise, dust and vibration associated with construction,” the project website warns.

For the safety of motorists and construction workers, Sunrise Engineering advises drivers to slow down and use extra caution while proceeding through the construction zones.

They also warn pedestrians to observe road closure signs and work areas that will be zoned off by construction tape, barrels, cones or barricades.
