LOGAN – In a press release from Logan River Academy, it is stated that students receive professional help and care, and that recent allegations made of abuse are false. Logan River Academy is a treatment center for struggling teens between the ages of 12-18. A handful of students who attended the Academy are now expressing concerns with the treatment they received, claiming they were abused and left in seclusion for long periods of time. Anonymous, an international network of activists and hacktivists, is now targeting Logan River Academy through social media. The hashtag the group has been spreading on Twitter is #ShutLoganRiver.
Logan River Academy is denying all allegations made by Anonymous and these students.
“Various individuals have posted false, inaccurate and misleading information about the Academy online and on social media,” the press release stated. “Many of these statements appear to have been made by former students dissatisfied with the results of the treatment. While the vast majority of students successfully complete the treatment program, no program can guarantee success and satisfaction in all cases.”
Logan River Academy also says students are not isolated, secluded, abused, or mistreated in any way. They say the center is fully licensed and in strict compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Logan River Academy has been in operation for over 13 years and has served over 1,100 students suffering from a variety of emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse problems.
