CACHE COUNTY – Logan resident JoAnn Bennett has joined the Cache County Council as its newest member.
With Chair Sandi Goodlander and council member David Erickson absent, a bare quorum of council members met briefly on Jan. 20 to appoint Bennett’s to the county panel. Voting unanimously to accept that appointment were council Vice Chair Kathryn Beus and council members Keegan Garrity, Nolan Gunnell and Mark Hurd.
After County Clerk Bryson Behm administered the oath of office to Bennett, the special council meeting called strictly for that purpose was quickly adjourned.
Replacing former council member Barbara Tidwell who resigned in December, Bennett will represent the Logan 2 District on the County Council, an area that encompasses portions of the Adams and Bridger neighborhoods, as well as a corridor-stretching north to the Logan-Cache Airport, in the northwest portion of the city.
She was overwhelmingly selected for that appointment in a special election held Jan. 17 by the Cache County Republican Party. At that gathering at Ridgeline High School, Bennett easily won 72 percent of the ballots cast by delegates from the Logan 2 District.
She will hold that seat through a portion of Tidwell’s unexpired term until December 2026.
