LOGAN – Members of the Logan City Police Department are inviting youngsters to kick off Halloween by joining them for a “Trunk or Treat” event.

That alternative celebration of the spooky holiday will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 in the parking lot behind the LCPD headquarters.

While the annual event is being hosted by the Logan Police, other departments of the city will also be on hand to distribute candy and other treats.

Trunk-or-treating is a Halloween tradition where participants gather in a parking lot and exchange candy and other treats from the trunks of their cars. Children — and some adults — in costumes go from car to car for treats, games and other Halloween fun.

Trunk or Treat events are popular because some parents consider them safer than having their children haunting dark streets and neighborhoods for trick-or-treating.

The LCPD Headquarters is located at 62 West, 300 North in Logan.
