LOGAN – For the first time since 2020, Broadway will be returning to Cache Valley with Come From Away, an award-winning must-see musical.

The national touring company of Come From Away is scheduled to perform on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Ellen Eccles Theatre, sponsored by the Cache Valley Center for the Arts.

That two-night stand in Logan, happening just one day after the general election, is by no means coincidental, according to Wendi Hassan, the CacheARTS managing director.

“By that time,” she said, “I think we’ll all need something to restore our faith in humanity.

“This joyous musical will help to do that.”

Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 airline passenger stranded in a small town in Newfoundland when the U.S. closed its airspace in the wake of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Initially, cultures clashed and nerves ran high when the population of the town of 10,000 nearly doubled. But the mutual uneasiness turned into trust after the town opened its homes and hearts to the unexpected newcomers.

One of Hassan’s favorite productions, Come From Away celebrates that triumph of international amity with soaring music and stories of lasting friendships.

Hassan credits contributions from generous sponsors and donors for bringing Come From Away here to Cache Valley. Their gifts raised $30,000, making CacheARTS’ “Bring Back Broadway” campaign earlier this year a success.

That support helped to fund two performances of Come From Away as well as the staging of the Bob Fosse musical Chicago in spring of 2025.

With music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Come From Away debuted at the Seattle Repertory Theatre in 2015 and moved to Broadway in 2017, where it played for five years.

The string of awards showered on the musical is as long as your arm, including the 2017 Tony Award for best direction; five Olivier Awards for its production in London’s West End; five Outer Critics Circle Awards and three Drama Desk Awards in New York City; and four Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards.

The touring company that will perform in Logan will be directed by Daniel Goldstein with musical staging by Richard J.Hinds, based on the original Broadway direction and choreography.
