LOGAN – City officials here are inviting Utah State University students and their families to celebrate Graduation Day in downtown Logan on Friday, May 1.
The Carol and Jim Laub Plaza will be transformed into a high-energy, open-air dance floor for a free Silent Disco Party that evening from 8 to 11 p.m. in honor of USU’s 2026 graduation class.
“Graduation is a monumental milestone for our students and our city,” according to Julie Cook, the coordinator of events at the Laub Plaza for the Logan Parks & Recreation Department.
“The Silent Disco at Laub Plaza will congratulate the Aggies and provide a fun, safe and memorable space for families to celebrate together in the heart of the community they’ve called home.”
A silent disco is an event where people dance to music played through wireless headphones rather than traditional speakers.
Participants typically wear specialized headphones that allow them to choose between multiple disc jockey channels—often indicated by color-coded LEDs—enabling different genres of music to be played simultaneously in the same space.
Cook says that graduates, their families and friends are invited to head downtown for after USU’s 139th Commencement ceremony and associated college convocations.
“With multiple music channels to choose from,” she adds, “guests will be able to switch between difference musical genres, ensuring that everyone from recent grads to visiting grandparents can find their grove.”
Refreshment at the free Silent Disco event will be provided by the Hydration Station at Raising Cane’s restaurant.
City officials are encouraging Silent Disco participants to arrive early, as headphone quantities will be limited and available on a firs-come, first-served basis.
