LOGAN – Officials of the Logan City Environmental Department are inviting all local residents to a lawn sustainability workshop.

That free event is slated for July 10 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Community Room A of the new Logan Library.

Billed as an education night, discussions at the workshop will help residents learn more about using water wisely in their landscaping.

Guest speakers at the education night will be Utah State University professors Shital Poudyal and Jaydee Gunnell, representing the university’s Extension Service.

Poudyal is an assistant professor and ornamental horticulture specialist, with expertise in horticulture, plant physiology, water conservation, water quality and sustainability.

He will discuss smart irrigation techniques and potential rebates for homeowners.

Gunnell is a professor of agriculture, with expertise in landscape plant materials, water-wise plants and native wildflowers as well as trees and shrubs.

He will discuss turf that thrives.

The new Logan Library is located at 285 North Main Street in downtown Logan.
