LOGAN — A 64-year-old Logan man has admitted to molesting a 10-year-old girl. William Rolando Nolasco accepted a plea deal and will now await sentencing next week.

Nolasco appeared Monday in Logan’s 1st District Court. He accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony. As part of the agreement, prosecutors dismissed four remaining charges.

According to prosecutors, Logan City Police officers began investigating Nolasco on March 6, after the victim’s mother reported the sexual abuse. The defendant was reportedly a close relative of the girl.

The victim told police how Nolasco would inappropriately touch her, while at his home. “The child said this occurred every couple months for a few years,” an arrest affidavit reported.

Police also suspected Nolasco pretended to engage in sexual acts with the child. The girl had described how he would roll on top of her, moving his body inappropriately.

Officers questioned Nolasco during the investigation. He reportedly admitted to molesting the girl a couple times a year. When asked why he did this, he stated because he was curious, the probable cause statement detailed.

Nolasco was booked into the Cache County Jail, where he remains held without bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 30, when he could face up to life in prison.
