LOGAN — A 20-year-old Logan man has admitted to having sexual relations with a teenage girl. Luis Angel Perez waived his right to a fair trial and accepted a plea deal after originally being charged with rape of a child.

According to court records, Perez appeared April 21 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He pleaded guilty to three amended counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, 2 third-degree felonies and 1 class A misdemeanor.

According to prosecutors, Logan City Police officers received a report from the Division of Child and Family Services in July 2024, explaining how Perez had raped the 13-year-old girl several times. The child’s mother brought the girl to a clinic for evaluation.

During an interview at the Cache County Children’s Justice Center, the victim disclosed how she met Perez at a party. The two continued communicating through social media. The girl went on to describe two separate times in which she and the defendant engaged in sexual activity.

The victim did not know Luis’ last name but stated that he worked at a local meat processing plant. She also described how he drove a black vehicle with tinted windows.

Police were able to identify Perez as the defendant and interviewed him on Oct. 18.

During questioning, Perez admitted to the crimes but claimed he was originally told the victim was 17-years-old.

According to court records, Perez is scheduled to be sentenced June 2. He could face more than five years in prison.
