LOGAN — A 33-year-old Logan man has admitted to elbowing someone in the face so hard it fractured bone, all in front of several children. Michael Ernesto Pacheco accepted a plea deal and will now await sentencing.

According to court records, Pacheco appeared April 16 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He pleaded guilty to robbery and possession or use of a controlled substance, amended to third-degree felonies; along with misdemeanors for domestic violence in the presence of a child and assault. 13 remaining charges were dismissed.

On March 7, Pacheco was in a dispute with another person over having someone fix things around the house. During the argument, he took the victim’s car keys and attempted to leave, according to prosecutors.

The victim tried to get the keys back, but Pacheco elbowed them in the left side of the face, fracturing bone between the eye socket and temple. They were later taken to the hospital, where surgery was necessary to repair the damage.

Logan City Police reported five children were present during the altercation.

Pacheco fled the house. Officers found him two days later in the victim’s attic. He reportedly has an extensive history of domestic violence and fleeing law enforcement.

According to court records, Pacheco remains in the Cache County Jail, being held without bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 19, and could face up to five years in prison.
