LOGAN — A 25-year-old Logan man faces seven criminal cases just days after law enforcement arrested him on a warrant. Levi Scott Peiffer was ordered to remain in jail after a judge said he wasn’t entitled to bail.
Peiffer appeared Wednesday morning in 1st District Court. He was arraigned on 29 charges, ranging from a pattern of unlawful activity, burglary of a vehicle, theft, unlawful acquisition of a financial card and other offenses. The charges carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison.
Last Friday, the Logan City Police Department posted several photos of Peiffer on its social media pages, asking for the public’s help locating him. They explained how he was wanted in connection with mail theft, several vehicle burglaries, drug possession, and use of stolen credit cards.
In December 2016, Peiffer and another male individual walked into the Hyrum Subway restaurant, threatening to shoot the place up if employees didn’t give them money. They made off with about $150 and were arrested shortly after.
Peiffer later pleaded guilty to robbery, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced to six months in jail.
Since completing his sentence, Peiffer has been charged with multiple other crimes, ranging from possession or use of a controlled substance, burglary and theft. Several of the cases have been put on hold, as the defendant claimed he was seeking drug treatment and hiring an attorney.
The last time Peiffer participated in a court hearing was February 8, appearing by web conference. The same day police reported he was involved in one of the latest theft cases.
According to prosecutors, the new crimes allegedly occurred between December 2022 and March 2023.
During Wednesday’s court hearing, Judge Brian Cannell said he wouldn’t even consider a request for bail. He assigned Peiffer a public defender and ordered him to appear again later this month.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
