LOGAN — A 48-year-old Logan man is facing felony charges following an investigation by Logan City police officers into alleged identity theft and organized criminal activity.

Adam Gamar Suleiman was charged Thursday in Logan’s 1st District Court with one count of pattern of unlawful activity, a second-degree felony, and one count of identity fraud involving less than $5,000, a third-degree felony.

According to court documents, the alleged offenses occurred over a two-month span between Sept. 14, 2021, and Nov. 20, 2021.

Prosecutors allege that Suleiman intentionally used or attempted to use the personal identifying information of another individual without permission. The court filing states the information was used with fraudulent intent to obtain or attempt to obtain credit, goods, services, employment, or other items of value totaling less than $5,000.

In addition to the identity fraud count, prosecutors levied a pattern of unlawful activity charge. Under Utah state law, this charge indicates that the defendant allegedly received proceeds from a enterprise’s unlawful operations, maintained an interest or control in an enterprise through illegal means, or conspired to conduct enterprise affairs through repeated unlawful acts.

Suleiman has not been arrested but has been issued a court summons to appear in court.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
