LOGAN — A 23-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing his female roommate, according to law enforcement. Alex Dean Gresham was booked Wednesday into the Cache County Jail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a woman contacted Logan City Police officers in April claiming her roommate, later identified as Gresham, had been sexually abusing her since November 2024. The two had moved to the area from California so she could attend school.

The alleged victim described how Gresham began sneaking into her bedroom at night and inappropriately touching her. She started waking up to find the suspect spooning or trying to cuddle with her.

The abuse progressively got worse, at times happening around five nights a week. Some evenings Gresham would reportedly remove her clothing and rape her, according to court paperwork.

The woman told police she felt confused and scared. Most of the time she would just pretend to be asleep as the abuse occurred.

The alleged victim later confronted Gresham about the incidents. He reportedly apologized but didn’t want to talk about it, the arrest affidavit described.

Officers later questioned Gresham as part of the investigation. He admitted to touching the woman inappropriately but said if she didn’t want him to do it, she would have stopped him.

Gresham was arraigned on Friday during a virtual hearing in Logan’s 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with four counts of object rape and two counts of forcible sodomy, both first-degree felonies; and, two counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Aaron Jossie asked the court to hold Gresham in jail without bail due to the seriousness of the allegations.

Gresham spoke only briefly, telling the court he had hired an attorney to represent him. He was ordered to remain in jail temporarily and appear again in court with his attorney June 2.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
