LOGAN — A 40-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly raping a teenage girl last fall, according to police. Sean Kenneth Isaacs was booked Wednesday afternoon into the Cache County Jail.
According to a probable cause statement from the Logan City Police Department, the 17-year-old alleged victim told her mother in December that Isaacs, considered to be a person of trust, had raped her several times. The incidents had occurred in October.
The girl was later interviewed at the Children’s Justice Center. She described how Isaacs raped her at his Logan apartment, the weekend before Halloween. He had provided her alcohol and then began inappropriately touching her.
Despite trying to push Isaacs away, the alleged victim said he forcefully raped her four times.
On Tuesday, police performed a recorded phone call between Isaacs and the teenage girl. When asked about the incidents, he said he felt guilty and that it was “probably not the best choice,” arresting documents stated.
Police arrested Isaacs at his Logan apartment, Wednesday. He acknowledged to knowing about the rape allegations but refused to talk to officers about it, invoking his rights to remain silent.
Isaacs gave consent for his phone and apartment to be searched. Police took several items as evidence, including a red and grey sleeping bag. The suspect’s cell phone also showed multiple calls and texts with the alleged victim.
Jail records show, Isaacs was booked on suspicion of four counts of rape and one count of forcible sodomy, all first-degree felonies; and two counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. He is temporarily being held, pending arraignment on formal charges in 1st District Court.
In the probable cause statement, police asked for the suspect to be held without bail. They claim he would be a “danger to the public as he has demonstrated his ability, through words and actions, to exploit and abuse minors.”
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
