LOGAN — A 24-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly damaging multiple vehicles at an apartment complex, according to law enforcement. Riley Kenneth Christensen has been in the Cache County Jail since being booked on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Christensen made his first appearance before a judge Tuesday in Logan’s First District Court. He was charged with six counts of property damage, one second-degree felony and five third-degree felonies.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Logan City Police officers received a call from a man who claimed his vehicle had been keyed, while parked outside his apartment, near 776 N. 750 East. Video of the vandalism showed a man matching Christensen’s description, who was also the alleged victim’s roommate.
Officers reported the video also showed Christensen allegedly tampering with the antennae on the victim’s car.
As the investigation continued, police learned of six other similar incidents that had occurred in the same parking lot recently. All of the vehicles had key marks down the sides, court documents detailed.
Officers questioned Christensen about the alleged vandalism. He claimed, he couldn’t remember damaging any of the cars. He explained that he suffered from anger and impulse control issues, blacking out and forgetting what happens.
During Tuesday’s video arraignment, Cache County deputy attorney Mark Winkel said Christensen reportedly had no prior violent offenses. He asked the court to still require the suspect to pay a substantial bail in order to be released from jail.
Judge Angela Fonnesbeck set bond at $10,000 and ordered Christensen to appear again in court Mar. 4.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
