LOGAN — A 22-year-old Logan man was arrested for assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute, reports law enforcement. Tyler Dean Aimsback was booked Sunday into the Cache County Jail.
According to an arrest affidavit, Logan City Police officers were called to investigate the assault on July 14. The alleged victim claimed Aimsback had become upset and thrown a book at her. He then grabbed her by the hair, throwing her to the ground.
The woman told officers, Aimsback then threw her onto a couch and attempted to strangle her. He later threatened to stab her with a knife.
Police reported the woman had multiple bruises on her body. She was later treated at a medical care facility, the probable cause statement reported.
As the investigation continued, the alleged victim claimed Aimsback had assaulted her previously on July 4. At that time, the suspect reportedly became upset and threw a set of keys at the woman, hitting her in the face, causing a laceration above her eye.
When the woman said she was leaving, Aimsback took her driver’s license and tried to hide it from her. He later tore the license in half, the arrest report detailed.
According to court records, Aimsback was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; along with misdemeanors for assault, unlawful detention and property destruction.
Judge Brian Cannell ordered Aimsback to remain in jail temporarily without bail, while attorneys gather evidence in the case. He ordered him to appear again in court July 29.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
