LOGAN — A 45-year-old North Logan has appeared before a judge after being arrested on a second-degree felony charge of forcible sexual abuse involving a family member, according to court documents.
John Edward Dictter made an initial appearance in Logan’s 1st District Court, Aug. 16. He was originally booked July 16 by Logan City police officers following an investigation into allegations stemming from February 2023.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the female victim reported that she was 17 years old when Dictter sexually touched her without consent.
The victim told investigators that Dictter would send her coded text messages instructing her to come to his bedroom whenever her mother was away from home. Once inside, Dictter molested her.
The victim stated she explicitly told Dictter she did not consent and did not like the physical contact, but he ignored her.
Police noted that the victim provided investigators with a written statement and copies of the coded text messages to corroborate her disclosures.
Dictter is currently out of jail on $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear again in court Sept. 14.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
