The vote was unanimous Tuesday night when members of the Logan Municipal Council approved a small increase in the property tax rate.

Logan Finance Manager Richard Andersen said it is actually an increase in the Library portion of the tax levy and every penny of the increase will go to the Logan Library.

“It’s $3.62 per year on a $188,000 residence,” Andersen told the council. “Without this increase the library would have to cut services.

“In other words, this isn’t for something additional. This is to support the existing services we have at the library.”

Andersen acknowledged that residents are facing other tax increases this year (from both the Cache County and the Logan school districts) but this one is much smaller than the others.
