LOGAN – The leaders of local performing arts groups have announced that the upcoming production of The Addams Family will be another of their collaborative efforts.

That show — scheduled to run from Friday, Oct. 10 to Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Ellen Eccles Theatre – will boast a powerhouse artistic/production team gathered from veterans of Music Theatre West, the Four Seasons Theatre Company and The Cache Theatre Company.

That team will be headed by Jon Rash as director, from the Four Seasons troupe; Afton Whitney as music director, who has previously performed and directed with all three local groups; choreographers Holden Matthews and Kat Newman, both of whom have experience with MTW, CTC and the Four Seasons company; and MTW and CTC veteran Sebrina Woodland handling casting.

With that talented crew in charge, the production of The Addams Family promises to be spooky, spectacular and unforgettable.

Auditions for the upcoming joint production will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the CTC Academy Building in North Logan.

With music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, The Addams Family musical brings to life all the bizarre characters from the cartoons drawn by Charles Addams for the New Yorker Magazine for 50 years starting in 1938. Those off-center cartoons also inspired a television show in the 1960s and a wildly popular series of films in the 1990s.

The musical is familiar to local theater-goers who have made the trek through Logan Canyon to see consecutive productions of The Addams Family by the Davis clan at Pickleville Playhouse in Garden City from 2019 through 2022.

The formation of the local Tri-Theatre Alliance was announced by Celeste Baillio in February of 2024 during broadcast of “For the People” on KVNU. The idea, she explained, is for those previously parochial performing arts groups to share resources, talents and marketing efforts while providing a year-round schedule of entertainment for Cache Valley audiences.

Their collaborative efforts resulted in wildly successful joint productions of Catch Me If You Can at the Utah Theatre and Something Rotten! at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in 2024, as well as other shows at the theater groups’ traditional venues.

The Cache Theatre Company Academy Building is located at 1950 N Main Street in North Logan.

The Ellen Eccles Theatre is located at 43 South Main Street in downtown Logan.
