CACHE COUNTY – The first meeting of the newly-organized Cache County Republican Veterans Caucus is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 22.
That gathering will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn in Logan, according to organizer David Benson.
The new group’s moto “Servimus Tanem” translates as “We Still Serve,” which Benson believes is very appropriate.
“We’re not done yet,” he says. “Our valley veterans took an oath to defend this nation and the principles for which it was founded.
“With diverse backgrounds, talents and opinions, our former servicemen and women are united in uplifting our neighbors, encouraging our youth and promoting Cache Valley values.”
Military veterans make up slightly more than 4 percent of Cache Valley’s population, according recent estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau.
As of July 2022, they included more than 800 veterans of the recent War on Terror; more than 600 who saw action in the Gulf War of 1990 to 1991; more than 1,300 veterans of the Vietnam conflict; more than 350 who served in the Korean War; and less than 100 remaining veterans of World War II.
Benson is inviting all veterans and current military members, plus their friends and families to attend the organizing meeting of the Veteran Caucus to enjoy drinks, snacks and good company.
He added that anyone needing more details or interested in service in a leadership position on the caucus to contact him by calling 435-760-0030 or via E-Mail at david@BenFam.com
The Hampton Inn is located at 207 North Main St. in Logan.
