LOGAN – Local cowboy performing artist Dale Major will headline a Logan Tabernacle Concert at noon on Pioneer Day, Wednesday, July 24.
As one of the founders of the Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous, Major is a familiar face – and voice – in Utah country-western circles.
Major will be joined in the noon concert by his daughter, Erin Stortt. The pair have performed previously here as members of the Major Family Band.
Ms. Stortt is well-known locally and is often praised for having a voice that resembles that of country-western artist Alison Krauss.
The Logan Tabernacle Concert series is a free program of events held at the First/Second Ward Latter-day Saints Church building at 200 West 89 South in Logan, Utah.
The series features local musical talent including singers, musicians and family groups. Those concerts are performed daily Monday through Friday for ten weeks during the summer.
The concerts start at noon and last about an hour. Many of the concert performers are from Cache Valley or have connections to the area. The series is presented by Cache Community Connections.
Major is a gifted guitarist, who can also be expected to contribute western poetry and wry commentary to give the afternoon concert a loose, feed-good vibe.
The Pioneer Day event is expected to draw most of its audience from Cache Valley’s temporary population of summer citizens, but everyone is invited, according to its organizers.
