LOGAN — Smithfield City Police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a rash of vandalism over the weekend. An individual or group is suspected of spray painting offensive images and language inside and outside of several homes under construction, in the area of 700 S. 1140 East.

In a press release, the department said the vandalism was “highly inappropriate.” It resulted in considerable damage that construction crews will have to spend extra time and money to clean up.

Officers suspect the offender(s) are juveniles. The crimes are believed to have happened sometime between Friday night and Monday morning.

The police department asked residents who live in the area and have doorbell cameras, to review footage for anything suspicious. They are also asking for anyone who may have witnessed individuals in the area, to contact law enforcement.

If anyone has information regarding the crimes, call public safety dispatch at (435) 753-7555 and refer to case #24-S605.

The police department expressed appreciation for their city and its citizens.
