LOGAN – Cache County Republicans will observe Constitution Day with a Family Celebration on Monday, Sept. 16.
That event will take place at the new Logan Library in downtown Logan.
“We will have an Open House from 6 to 7 p.m. where you can meet the candidates for county and state elections,” explained Geoff Cox, the chair of the Cache County Republican Party.
Speakers in the running for state offices at the event will include incumbents Sen. Chris Wilson, Rep. Mike Petersen and Rep. Casey Snider as well as Hyde Park Mayor Jason Thompson, according to Cox.
Also on hand for the events will be county incumbents Councilwoman Barbara Tidwell and County Clerk Bryson Behm.
Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.
Following the open house portion of the family Constitution Day, Cox said the event will feature talks about the historic document, including a keynote address by Dr. Clifton Brady.
A native of Mesa, AZ, Brady has served as a delegate on both state and county levels for the Cache County GOP for the past 12 years. One of his favorite quotes is from founding father Benjamin Franklin: “Freedom is not a gift bestowed on us by other men, but a right that belongs to us by the laws of God and nature.”
Cox said that the Constitution Day event will also provide a delicious birthday dessert after its program.
“We’ll also have educational activities for school children of all ages,” Cox adds.
He invites all Cache Valley residents to come and test their knowledge of the Constitution and perhaps learn something new.
The new Logan Library is located at 285 North Main Street in Logan.
