LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s deputies arrested multiple individuals Wednesday on illegal firearms possession and narcotics distribution following a multiple agency investigation. The arrests occurred after the Sheriff’s Office Proactive Unit executed two search warrants.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Ramirez said the case began after a traffic stop was conducted that resulted in a drug arrest. Follow-up investigation uncovered evidence indicating firearms were being sold to known, documented gang members.

Investigators were led to a residence in Logan City, where the Proactive Unit, with support from the Cache-Rich Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant, according to Ramirez. Several firearms were recovered, along with evidence of methamphetamine use and a homemade explosive device believed to be a pipe bomb.

A second search warrant was later served at a residence in Hyrum, explained Ramirez. The Cache County SWAT Team, in coordination with the Proactive Unit and Cache-Rich Drug Task Force, recovered an assault rifle hidden inside a wall, along with further signs of methamphetamine use.

According to booking records, Jesus Gamez, 33, Taylor Scott Jacobson, 31, and Jonathan Mireles, 31, were all arrested on suspicion of various felony offences, ranging from possession of a controlled substance to possessing a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

All of the suspects are being held without bail, pending arraignment of formal charges in Logan’s 1st District Court. The investigation is active and ongoing.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
