CASSIA COUNTY, Idaho — The Burley Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is opening its doors for free public tours this week, marking a significant milestone for the region as the 11th temple in the state.
The public open house runs from Thursday, Nov. 6, through Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, excluding Sundays. The temple will be formally dedicated on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026. The dedicatory session will be broadcast to all congregations in the Burley Idaho Temple district.
Local officials and invited guests were the first to tour the temple Monday during a media day event led by Elder Steven R. Bangerter, executive director of the Temple Department.
Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the Burley Idaho Temple in April 2021. The temple’s design pays tribute to the local agricultural heritage, featuring colors that reflect the open skies and farmland that surround Burley. The stained glass patterns specifically highlight the potato plant blossom in the interior decorations.
Idaho is home to nearly 500,000 members across approximately 1,300 congregations. The Burley temple joins ten others in Idaho, including dedicated temples in Boise, Idaho Falls, and Meridian, with others announced or currently under construction.
