SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has opened applications for thousands of volunteers, performers, and professional guides to participate in the upcoming Salt Lake Temple Celebration.

The international event is scheduled to run from April 5 through Oct. 1, 2027. It will welcome global visitors to experience Temple Square and the historic Salt Lake Temple, which has been undergoing extensive structural and seismic renovations. According to church officials, the months-long celebration will feature music, dance, storytelling, and personal interactions designed to focus on Jesus Christ, faith, and the spiritual purpose of Latter-day Saint temples.

Organizers emphasized that the invitation is inclusive, encouraging individuals from a variety of backgrounds, faiths, talents, and experience levels to apply.

For community volunteer roles, the church is seeking Temple Square hosts and support staff who will be at least 16 years old by 2027. These volunteers will welcome international guests, answer questions, or serve in behind-the-scenes capacities. Opportunities exist for both guest-facing and non-guest-facing assignments, including select operational roles that can be managed remotely. Applicants must commit to a minimum of eight weeks of service, typically fulfilling one three- to four-hour shift per week. Organizers noted that some positions may require extended periods of standing.

Musical and dance ensembles are also invited to apply as volunteer performing groups. Eligible organizations include vocal and instrumental ensembles, folk and cultural groups, and school organizations. Groups can range in size from four to 100 participants, though smaller ensembles are preferred. All performers must be at least 8 years old. Selected groups will deliver 30-minute inspirational, sacred, or celebratory performances on Temple Square between April and September 2027.

The church is additionally recruiting volunteer artisans—including painters, sculptors, illustrators, glass blowers, and chalk artists—alongside educators and guides for the Church History Museum to enrich the guest experience.

Beyond volunteer positions, the celebration offers full-time paid opportunities. The church is casting professional singers, storytellers, dancers, and instrumentalists between the ages of 18 and 35 to form a specialized performance troupe. Selected artists will work under a paid contract from February through October 2027, maintaining a full-time schedule for rehearsals and daily performances. Paid positions are also open for professional Temple Square guides.

Information regarding qualifications, specific schedules, and compensation details can be accessed through the official application.
