SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Wednesday that it will eliminate the Saturday evening session of its General Conference, effective beginning with the April 2026 conference. The change will condense the semi-annual event to four daytime sessions.
The decision, shared by the First Presidency of the Church, marks the latest adjustment to the conference schedule in recent years.
Prior to 2018, the Saturday evening meeting was specifically designated as a “priesthood session” for male members who held the priesthood. The Church had later transitioned the evening slot to be open to all who desired to watch or listen, regardless of gender or priesthood status.
The Church did not provide further details on the rationale for the decision at this time. General Conferences are held twice a year, during the first weekends of April and October.
