Logan City Public Work Crews repairing water main break at 500 East 1000 North, Feb. 13, 2023.
LOGAN — Emergency crews were called to a large water main break early Monday morning. The break was reported around 4:30 a.m. near 550 East 1000 North.
According to emergency radio traffic, the break produced a large hole in the road. Water flooded into multiple nearby homes.
Police closed a portion of 1000 North while public work crews were called to repair the break.
Water was reported as far west as Main Street.
Firefighters went door to door, checking on residents and helping them divert water from their homes. They also used hoses to try and divert the water and limit the damage.
Logan City Public Works Director Paul Lindhardt confirmed the pipe was a 12 inch line. Crews closed 1000 North between 500 East and 600 East, while they repaired the line.
