LEWISTON – Kelly H. Spackman, prominent Franklin County business owner, passed away March 11, 2024, peacefully at his home in St. George, Utah.

Kelly Spackman was a prominent businessman and philanthropist in Franklin County.

At 18 years old, Kelly’s father passed away in a tragic accident. Spackman was forced to assume responsibilities of his father’s service station and looking after his mother and siblings. He went on to build a successful business in the fuel industry.

Spackman and his wife Marilee built their businesses in the fuel industry with Sterling Jardine. He became a very successful businessman owning three convenience stores in Preston, one in Franklin and one in the Logan area.

Their La Tienda convenience store in Franklin grew from a small store with a few pumps to one of the largest stores in Franklin County after it started selling tickets for the Idaho Lottery, attracting tens of thousands of Utahns from across the border. He later sold the businesses in the fall of 2019.

Besides his business, racehorses became one of his biggest passions.

The father of two had a great gift for making friends. He always met his customers with a big smile and a hardy hello.

Spackman was known for his service to others and his community. With his daughter Shelly they were always finding a way to give back to the community.

He was born January 7, 1951, in Logan, Utah, to Ether Gale Spackman and Rosalie Hyer Spackman of Lewiston, Utah.

Spackman grew up in Lewiston where he attended schools and met Marilee Wiser. They were married on September 27, 1967, and made their home in Lewiston.

Spackman had six grandchildren: Collin, BJ, Taylor, Chaz, Bo and Morgan.

He is survived by his wife, Marilee Spackman; his son, Kelly Clare (KC) Spackman, Shelly Spackman (Alberto Gallardo); Spackman had six grandchildren: Collin, BJ, Taylor, Chaz, Bo and Morgan.  A special gift was his great-grandchildren: Charlee, Rawlings, Jack and Riggins.  He would start his day by calling his children and grandkids…Never too busy for them.
