LOGAN — A 56-year-old Millville man, suspected of sexually abusing several teenage girls, has been ordered to stand trial.

Dean Ferguson faces seven charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony and lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor. The alleged abuse occurred between January 2012 and April 2013.

Court records show Ferguson appeared in 1st District Court Thursday afternoon. During the preliminary hearing, state attorneys played several video interviews from victims describing the abuse. A member of the Primary Children’s Hospital child abuse team and a detective with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office also testified.

Later, Judge Bradon Maynard ruled there was sufficient evidence to bind Ferguson over on all counts. He has not yet entered a plea. A jury trial has been scheduled for February.

Ferguson was arrested May 19 after sheriff’s investigators were notified of the abuse and interviewed several victims. He was later released from the Cache County Jail after posting a $25,000 bond. He is expected again in court November 3.
