LOGAN – New leaders are vested with responsibilities and powers during an investiture ceremony; it is the act of conferring the authority of high office.

Since becoming the Utah State University president seven months ago Elizabeth Cantwell has been busy getting to know her new school and even reshaping the leadership team she inherited.

Such ceremonies are usually held during a president’s first year in office. Dr. Cantwell’s is scheduled for Friday, April 12 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Daines Concert Hall.

Delegates from various colleges and universities, alongside USU faculty, will be featured in an academic procession and will wear academic regalia of their own alma mater.

During a reception after the ceremony in the Merrill-Cazier Library, a new Aggie ice cream flavor in honor of the the new president will be reveled.

Because seating will be limited, those wishing to attend should RSVP for the event at www.usu.edu/investiture.

The ceremony will be live streamed on AggieCast.

Dr. Cantwell is USU’s 17th president. She was named in May and assumed her new role in August of 2023.
