SALT LAKE CITY — Utah is preparing its 2026 State Water Plan, a long-term strategy to manage one of the state’s most critical resources, and residents are being invited to weigh in.
The Utah Division of Water Resources announced a series of “Water Talks” — interactive meetings scheduled across the state from August through October — to gather feedback from local communities.
“Updating the State Water Plan is a key step in preparing for Utah’s water future,” said Candice Hasenyager, director of the division. “These Water Talks will help ensure the plan reflects both local issues and statewide priorities.”
The State Water Plan outlines current use and future demand while recommending policies, funding strategies and implementation steps. Officials said the plan is based on data analysis, modeling and collaboration with a broad group of stakeholders at both state and local levels.
One of the meetings will focus on the Bear River Basin, which supplies much of Cache Valley’s water. That session is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. in Community Room A at the Logan Library.
