LOGAN — A 19-year-old Franklin County man, already serving a prison sentence for possessing child pornography, is facing new allegations of raping two teenage girls in Lewiston, according to law enforcement. William Kyle Currie was transferred to Utah custody Wednesday, April 10, after two warrants were issued for his arrest last year.

According to the first warrant affidavit, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a Lewiston home on report of a 14-year-old girl who had runaway, Jan. 22, 2023. The girl’s father reported finding social media messages between the girl and Currie. The messages were sexual in nature and included nude photos of the girl.

Deputies obtained a warrant to search Currie’s phone. They allegedly located several nude photos of the teenage girl. The pictures were exchanged while the suspect was reportedly living out of his vehicle in both Utah and Idaho.

In the second affidavit, deputies detailed receiving a second report of a delayed sex offense, Jan. 29, 2023. A 15-year-old girl reported Currie had enticed or coerced her into engaging in sexual relations three times.

Deputies interviewed Currie. He reportedly admitted to having sexual relations with both girls. He said that he was “addicted to young girls and wanted help,” the warrant affidavits described.

Currie was arraigned Friday, April 12, during a virtual hearing in Logan’s 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with four counts of rape, a first-degree felony; seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; and two felonies for enticing a minor by internet or text.

Cache County deputy attorney Ronnie Keller asked the court to hold Currie in jail without bail. He explained how the suspect was already serving a prison term in Idaho until February 2025.

Currie was ordered to appear again in court Monday afternoon. He is expected to remain in jail while attorneys review evidence in the case and could face up to life in prison, if convicted.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
