LOGAN — A 25-year-old Hyrum man has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a child. Thomas R. Durham received the maximum sentence after previously pleading guilty in two similar cases in Cache and Davis counties.

Durham was sentenced Monday morning in 1st District Court. He previously accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to sex abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

According to court records, Durham accepted a similar plea deal last week in 2nd District Court. He pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.

The case in Cache County occurred in 2015. The charges in Davis County happened over several years, between 2011 and 2014. The victim was a family acquaintance.

The cases in both courts had been delayed while attorneys worked out a global resolution.

Court staff report, Judge Angela Fonnesbeck sentenced Durham to one to 15-years in prison.

Durham is still scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 10 in 2nd District Court on the second case.
