LOGAN — A Hyrum man accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl has been sentenced to spend up to 15 years in prison.
Jeremiah Epperson, 32, appeared in 1st District Court Monday, after pleading guilty to forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
Judge Kevin Allen sentenced Epperson to spend one to 15 years in prison and told him to get the help he needs.
State Attorney Barbara Lachmar said evidence in the case showed that Epperson began abusing the victim when she was 11 years-old. That abuse reportedly continued for four years until Epperson was arrested in January 2013.
Judge Allen said he was disturbed with Epperson’s lack of remorse, saying that sex with a victim that age is never consensual.
Epperson was originally charged with five counts of forcible sexual abuse, 2nd felonies and five misdemeanor counts of sexual abuse of a minor.
Court records show that Epperson accepted a plea agreement, January 13, 2014. He pleaded guilty to one count of forcible sexual abuse and had the other nine charges dismissed.
