An 87-year-old Hyrum man was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital, after falling from a horse near Hardware Ranch, Saturday afternoon.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said Ronald Dean Harris was riding horses with others in a riding club, when he fell about two-to-three miles south-east of the ranch in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

Witnesses told deputies that Harris appeared to have a problem with his saddle moments before he fell. He was conscious but complaining of pain.

Peterson said a Life Flight helicopter was dispatched to the scene and was able to locate Dunn.  He was transported to a neighboring hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
