LOGAN — A 24-year-old Hyrum man has been arrested for allegedly sharing child sexual abuse material over a social media app, according to law enforcement. Logan Dixon Durham was booked Friday into the Cache County Jail.

According to an arrest affidavit, Logan City Police Officers received a cyber-tip, claiming a resident in Cache Valley was uploading child pornography to a Snapchat account. The 23 files contained minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.  

Police obtained a username and IP address to track the account to Durham’s residence. They also obtained search history records, allegedly showing him searching for child sexual abuse material over the internet.

On April 25, officers obtained a warrant and took Durham into custody during a traffic stop. They later searched his residence, allegedly finding several electronic devices, a hunting rifle and psychedelic mushrooms.

Durham was questioned by officers at the police department. He allegedly admitted to downloading the child pornography over the internet, stating that he knew it was wrong but he couldn’t stop himself.

According to jail records, Durham was booked on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, second-degree felony sexual exploitation of a minor, along with possession of a firearm by a restrict person and possession of a controlled substance.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
